Notes for Ivor S HALL:

Ivor was just too young to be called up for service in WWII so instead he became one of the Bevan boys and was shipped off to Wales to work in the coal mines. There was a time when the coal miners went on strike during the war and extra manpower was urgently required to satisfy the urgent demand for coal.

After that he trained as a chef working at the Beardown Hotel in Hook, Hampshire, and then went into shop work.

I remember being told as a child in the 1950's that he was the manager of the International Stores in Basingstoke, Hampshire. That was when it was in Winchester Street, directly opposite the old Town Hall Building at the top of Wote and Church Street.
