David KNIBBS -
1826-1884

Leslee Sears, a direct descendant of David, told me that her father used to tell her stories of how his great-grandfather, David KNIBBS was a ship's captain on the Great Lakes.

This advertisement appeared in many of the regional newspapers of that time and undoubtedly refers to him and one of his ships.

This one is taken from the Niagara Falls Gazette, dated Wednesday September 18th, 1878.

The Lizzie A. Gibson was a magnificent steam powered yacht,  built by Gibson & Craig in 1876. She first appeared in Buffalo harbour on 28 Se8, 1876
