Roy STROUD, 1929-2006

Roy was the only son of Phillys Eveline Knibbs of Basingstoke and her husband Alec Stroud. He left school and completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter and joiner in Weymouth, Dorset. When the firm he worked for closed down, Roy started a career in the Police Force.

He continued to use his carpentry skills throughout his life and built several boats that he used for sea fishing off the Weymouth coast. He was also a very skilled model maker with one of the model ships he built currently on display at the museum at The Nothe, Weymouth.

He had a passion for railways and he built a huge model railway at this home.

This photo was taken in 1957.
