Arthur Ronald Knibbs, 1920-2002 - F.I.Mech E. & Inventor

Arthur Ronald Knibbs was born in the Foleshill District of Coventry, Warwickshire, the middle of three children born to Arthur William Knibbs and his wife Kathleen Mary. He was a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (F.I.Mech E.) and was a Chief Design Engineer and Director at Courtaulds Ltd., Foleshill, Coventry. He worked his way up from Bobbin Boy to Director at Courtaulds during a lifetime of service. 
 

Improvements to Spinning Machines.
In 1956, Arthur and a colleague invented a device for securing and positively locating a spinning jet for use in the production of artificial filaments by the wet spinning process. Courtaulds Ltd. were the patent applicants.

Compression of Materials.
In 1965, Arthur and another colleague invented a device for the compression of materials to form bales, particularly fibrous materials.

Yarn Collecting Apparatus.
In 1967, Arthur and a colleague invented a device for collecting yarn and formation of the yarn into packages of continuous filament yarns or synthetic polymers, of natural or man made origin.
