Notes for Albert William Reginald KNIBBS:

Also known as: Reginald

Albert was identified as Reginald, living with his parents in the 1901 census, so I believe this is probably the name he went by.
__________

Albert W R Knibbs served as a Private in the Royal West Kent Regiment and the Royal Welsh Fusiliers during WWI. His medal card shows that he took part in "Theatre of War 2 and 3 and the Balkans" from 30 Jul 1915.He was aged 17 years, 9 months when he enlisted on 28 Nov 1914.

On 19 July, 1915, Albert embarked on the ship SS Northland at Devonport, bound for Alexandria as part of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Forces at Gallipoli. On 28 August he was admitted to hospital with Dysentry and was shipped back to the City of London Military Hospital in Clapham.

He returned to Alexandria in July 1916. In August 1818, he was attested to the 1st Bn. Cape Corps and from there, he was given a permanent transfer to the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in 3 November, 1918.

He was eventually medically discharged from the army due to residual effects of the dysentry he contracted in 1915
