Funeral services for Lyle W. Porter, 62, a printer for the Sun Prairie Star-Countryman, who died at his home Tuesday night after a long illness, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Tuschen Guneral Home. The Rev. Dale A. Jennings, paster of the Methodist Church, will officiate and burial will be in the Sun Prairie Cemetery. Mr. Porter was a Sun Prairie resident for the past 30 years. Survivors are his wife, Frances; a daughter, Mrs. Ludwig S. Stohl of Sun Prairie; four sisters, Mrs. Paul Weber of Corry, PA; Mrs. Rita Markwith of South Pasadena, CA, Mrs. Robert Keating and Mrs. Orval St. Pierre, Los Angeles, CA; two brothers, Claude of Birmingham, MI and Lee of Richfield Park, NJ; and one granddaughter. Several of the local North Tonawanda newspapers from the early 1900's make reference to singing performances given by Frances at the First Methodist Episcopal Church and the Masonic Hall, as well as private venues at North Tonawanda. As well as singing solo, she also sang as part of a duet or even quartet.

Mrs. Frances Porter, 86, of 253 North St., Sun Prairie, died Monday, Apr. 12, 1971 in a Sun Prairie nursing home. She was a member of United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Eastern Star, and a member of the WSCS. Her husband, Lyle, worked for the Sun Prairie Star Countryman for 30 years. He died in 1951. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ludwig C. Stohl, 253 North St., Sun Prairie; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Tuschen Funeral Home, where friends may call after 4 p.m. today. Eastern Star services will be held at 8 tonight in the funeral home. WSJ 4/14/1971.
