Knibbs John Richard Payne of 15 Briton-road Faversham Kent railway-engine-driver died 29 January 1904 at the Cottage Hospital Faversham.

From the Welsh Gazette and West Wales Advertise - 4 Feb, 1904:
Crossing the line at Faversham Station to reach his engine, Richard Payne Knibbs, aged forty-three, a driver, was knocked down and killed by a train from Chatham.


From the Dover Express - Friday 05 February 1904:
A shocking fatality occurred at Faversham Railway Station late on Friday night, when Charles Richard Payne Knibbs, an engine driver, was killed. Knibbs had been talking to another driver and was proceeding to his own engine, which was standing at one of the platforms, when he was knocked down by the local train leaving Chatham at 10.10 and due at Faversham at 10.40. He sustained a fractured skull and other injuries and died half an hour after admission to the cottage hospital. Deceased was 43 years of age.


John and his wife Mary are buried at Faversham Cemetery, Kent.
