Charles KNIBBS, son of Richard James KNIBBS and Catherine MORRIS , was born 13 March 1872 in Battersea, London, Middlesex, England. He married Maud Mary PITTAWAY 31 May 1900 in Clapham, London, Middlesex, England. He died 26 July 1940 in Wimbledon, Surrey, England. Maud Mary PITTAWAY was born bet. Notes for Charles KNIBBS:

It seems quite likely that it was this Charles Knibbs who is mentioned in an article headed "Teachers and Football" which relates the Schoolboy Association Football in England, 1885-1915. My understanding of it is that a team called the "Old Londonians" had a player named C Knibbs, a teacher who had trained in Cheltenham Training College, and at that time, working at Hackford Road School.

So from this, I'm guessing that Charles met Maud when he was studying in Cheltenham, her home town.

In 1901, Charles was living at 10 Wintemby Street(?), Clapham, Wandsworth, London with his brother Ernest:
Charles Knibbs Head Mar ?? Assistant Master Battersea S
Ernest Knibbs Bro UnM 24 CC Clerk Battersea S

I have yet to work out where Charles' wife was.

In 1911, we see Charles living at Rickford, London Road, Hackbridge, Surrey:
Charles Knibbs Head 39 Married Assistant Schoolmaster London Battersea
Maud Mary Knibbs Wife 36 Married (10 years) Gloucester Cheltenham

The census confirms that there had been no children.
