WEDDING OF MIS D.COLLIER
Miss Doris Edith Collier daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W Collier. of 11. Bramble Road Southsea. was married at St Bartholomew's Church. Southsea on Saturday. to Mr Kenneth Herbert Frank Flay son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank of Hadleigh (Essex).
The bride has been nursing at he Queen Alexandra Hospital. Cosham and the Royal Portsmouth Hospital, and the bridegroom is a Police Constable serving in Leigh-on-Sea. Essex.
Given In marriage by her father. the bnde wore a white taffeta gown with a silk net veil, and carried a bouquet of white roses and Lily-of-the-valley. The bridesmaids, the Misses', Gillian Collier (bride's sister), Daphne Flay, (bridegroom's sister) and Rita Wilkinson (bride's cousin), all wore scarlet taffeta dresses with white head-dresses, and carried bouquets of white sweet peas and lilies-of-the-valley, Mr. H. Crine (bridegroom's uncle) was best man. Canon J. Beloe officiated. S

Kenneth married Doris Edith Collier in 1954 at Thurrock District, Essex. Doris was born 01 Jan 1929 and died on 16 Jun 1963 in Adelaide, South Australia. They had three daughters, Wendy, Alison and Janice.

Kenneth can be seen on 8 April 1958 aboard the liner Arcadia, sailing between London and Adelaide with his wife Doris and two daughters Allison and Wendy.

Ken, who was a detective, killed his wife and daughters before killing himself in Adelaide on 17 June, 1963. I understand that he was a gambler and accrued massive debts which was a contributory fact to him killing his wife and children and taking his own life.

In 1957, the Commissioner wrote:
Kenneth Herbert Frank Flay (Const). - Service Record of. - Subject was a British migrant. On 17 June 1963 he committed suicide after killing his wife and three children. - He had considerable potential for advancement in the police service but was in debt.

From The Canberra Times, Tuesday 18 June, 1963:
Adelaide Family of Five Die in Shooting.
Adelaide, Monday. - A policeman, his wife, and their three young children were found shot dead at their home at Noarlunga, about 20 miles from Adelaide, this morning.
The tragedy was discovered by Christies Beach police when they went to the home after a milkman found a note under a milkcan on the front porch of the house.
Dead are Constable Kenneth Herbert Frank Flay, 30, Doris Edith Flay, 34, Wendy Flay 7, Allison 5, and Janice, 17 months.
They lived in a new five-room house which Constable Flay bought about 15 months ago,
The note on the porch was found by a milkman when he went to deliver milk to the Flay family about 8.30 a.m.
The noter, written in ink on a large writing pad, and placed under the milkcan, read: "Milkman - phone Christies Beach police. All dead inside."
The note was unsigned and had been left with the milk money.
The milkman, Mr. Dungey, called at the home of Mr. amd Mrs. Eric Brown, and told them about the note.
The Brown, and Mr. Dungeywent over to the house, and tried to look inside, but the curtains had been drawn.
Mr. Dungey telephoned Christies Beach police and awaited the arrival of a party of police led by Inspector W. Blyth.
Insp. Blyth broke the glass in the back door to release the catch, and entered the house.
He found Mrs. Flay and the three children shot through the head in their beds and Constable Flay, also with a bullet wound in the head, lying in a passage.
A pistol was found nearby.
Detectives took possession of two notes found inside the house.

Family of Five Shot Deads.
The bodies of Policeconstable Kenneth Herbert Frank Flay, aged 30, his English-born wife Doris Edith, aged 34. and three young children Wendy, eight., Allison, five, and Janice, 17 months, were found shot through the head with a revolver in their house at Aidinga, 71 miles from Adelaide. South Australia. yesterday.
The woman and the children were found dead In their beds. Mr. Flay was outside the bedroom.
The discovery was made when a milkman found a note reading: "Milkman. please call the police. We are all dead in the house."
The family emigrated from England where Mr. Flay was also a constable. about five years ago.
