KNIBBS, Ronald James - 70, Bible Hill, passed away June 27, 2003, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Glenholme on April 20, 1933, he was a son of the late James and Louise (MacDonald) Knibbs. Ronald served in the Royal Canadian Hussars in Germany and Egypt as a peacekeeper. He had worked for Stanfield's Ltd. and later for John Bagnell Fuels. He loved bowling, playing darts and cards, reading, puzzles and dancing. Ronald was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Seaman) Knibbs; daughter, Jo Anne West, Quebec; stepdaughters, Linda Mingo (Ron), Greenfield; Margie Wilson, Truro; Kelly Steeves (Jim), Cole Harbour; stepson, Larry McCarthy (Michiko), Surrey, B.C.; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Irene McNutt, Truro; sister-in-law, Bev Knibbs, Brantford, Ont.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Gerald Knibbs. No visitation by request. The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, will conduct a tribute service on Wednesday, July 2, at 1:30 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, Rev. Gordon MacLean officiating. Reception to follow. Interment in Bible Hill Cemetery. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Poppy Fund of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26.
