I believe he was married to Mary J Clarke. We see her as a widow in 1880 with their daughter Clara. However, I suspect he never married Ida Pike, despite having children with her. After Henry died, she could be seen living with a man named Paul L Pike.

The record for the birth of his son, Charles H Knibbs in 1878, stated that Henry was born in Newmarket, New Hampshire.

From the Newburyport Daily Herald, May 20th , 1873:
Henry W. Knibbs, David Roach and and John Plunkett, all of Haverhill, were sentenced upon complaints appeal cases, for violation of the liquor law, to severally pay a fine of $10 and costs of $12.50 and recognise with sureties in the sum of $500 each not to violate the law relating to intocicating liquers for one year.

Mary was the daughter of Joseph H Clarke and his wife Mary A.

From the Annual Report, of the Town of Andover,Receipts and Expenditures for year ending 7 February, 1876:
Mary J. Knibbs moved from Haverhill to the Almshouses.

The Report of the Overseers' of the Poor, identified that Mary was one of paupers remaining in the Almshouses at the end of the financial year. She was the only one in the age group 20-30 years. The report also made reference to the fact that Mary gave birth to a daughter that year.

I'm pretty sure Henry Knibbs was still living in 1880, so it may have simply been convenient to declare herself a widow.

The Report of the Overseers' of the Poor, identified that Mary's daughter, Jessie T Knibbs, was in the Almshouse, aged 10 months. There was no mention of others from the family. Her date of birth was given as Dec 16, 1885.

The Report of the Overseers' of the Poor, identified that Mary's son, William Knibbs, died in the Almshouse, aged 10 years on Nov 26, 1892.
There was no mention of others from the family being at the Almshouse.

I suspect that Mary didn't ever remarry after Henry Knibbs died.

In 1900, we see Ida living at ED 254 Andover Town (all east of river & Main St.), Essex, Massachusetts, which appears to have been an Alms House for the poor.

Ida died aged just 28 and is buried at Spring Grove Cemetery, Andover, Essex County, Massachusetts. The entry in the death register gave her occupation as "At Poor House".

Tha 1902 Annual Receipts and Expenditures Report for the town of Andover, shows an expenditure of $15.00 for the funeral expenses of Ida Knibbs.

We're not sure of the parentage of Clara. She was born in the Almshouse in the town of Andover, Essex County, Massachusetts, and we know that she was in the Almshouse in 1880 with her mother Mary.

William died in a drowning accident.
