I'm told that the marriage registration shows that Richard George Holloway and Evah Clare Thomas were married June 16, 1909 at the “residence of Mark Edward Thomas near Kitscoty, Alta”. Mark Edward Thomas is listed as Evah’s father. Kitscoty is directly east of Edmonton about 30 kilometres before the Alberta Saskatchewan border.

Also known as: Richard George Holloway

We can see Richard living with his wife Eva and their daughter Martha in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada at the time of the 1911 census. Richard is aged 27, Eva 22, and daughter Martha just 1 year.

In 1916, they were living at 36 Edmonton East, Alberta, Canada:

There is no mention of the daughter Martha who was listed in 1911, but I've learned that her name was Martha Emily and guess that at the time of the census, Emily was the favoured family name.

A sample of Richard's signature taken from his military registration card, 1918.
__________

We can see from Richard's military registration card that in September 1918, he was living at 813 Sherman Road, Hood River, Oregon. Confusingly, he says that he was a Native Born American but that he was citizen of England, and not America. He was an Invalid, but employed by the Singer Sewing machine Co., Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. His next of kin was Mrs R(?) Holloway of the same address. He was short, stout, with blue eyes and brownhair.

We can see from the LDS site that his wife (which the LDS IGI gives as Evah Clare) died at Hood River less than two months after the military registration card was completed.

__________

One theory is that George fought with the Canadian Army during WWII and married a British woman after the war and stayed in the UK. Supposedly he died in the late 1980’s or early 1990’s in Kent survived by his wife but no children.
