Caught on a Shafting—Narrow Escape from Serious Injury.
Yesterday afternoon Charles Blanco, employed in Kelly & KnowIson's machine shop, while shifting a belt on some shafting, caught his shirt beneath the belt and it was completely torn from his body. His undershirt was served in a similar manner, and his arm would have been wrapped around the shaft but for the Intervention of Joseph Knibbs who pushed the belt aside. Blanco's arm was badly lacerated, but he was able to go alone to his residence on Green Island.
