Notes for Henry Theodore KNIBBS:

It was probably this Henry Knibbs who was born during q3/1853 in St Luke District in London. St Luke District was later renamed Holborn.

We can see Henry (albeit as Harry) in 1881 living at 38 Mary St., London, Middlesex with three of his brothers and a sister-in-law:
Harry KNIBBS Head M Male 27 St Georges E, Middlesex, England Beer & Wine Seller
Walter KNIBBS Brother U Male 25 St Georges E, Middlesex, England Clerk
Eliza KNIBBS Wife M Female 25 St Georges E, Middlesex, England
Edwin KNIBBS Brother U Male 21 St Georges E, Middlesex, England Brass Finisher
Alfred KNIBBS Brother U Male 19 St Georges E, Middlesex, England Wheelwright

It's quite likely that Arthur Knibbs born q1/1888 in St Giles District, London and died in q2/1889 was a son of this couple.

In 1891 we see Henry and his family living with Henry's older brother Walter Knibbs at 15 Little Guildford Street, Bloomsbury, London, England. This was in fact the pub called the "Royal Standard". I think Walter was living with Henry.

From Reynolds's Newspaper (London, England), Sunday, September 6, 1891:

Suicide Through Depression of Spirits.-
Dr. W. Wynn Westcott, held and enquiry on Monday at St. Giles's Coroner's Court concerning the death of Henry Theodore Knibbs, 28, manager of the Royal Standard beerhouse, Little Guildford Street, W.C. The deceased's brother died a month ago, and since then the deceased has been depressed and strange in his manner. He was besides worried about money matters. On Thursday morning his wife, on entering the backyard attached to the beerhouse, discovered her husband suspended by his neck from a ladder placed against the wall. the deceased had driven a butcher's hook into the ladder woodwork, apparently that he might hang himself effectually. Mrs. Knibbs at once cut the deceased down, but life was found to be extinct. The jury returned a verdict of "Suicide while of unsound mind".
