Buried next to his parents James and Mary Jane McCartney in Dixon Cemetery in Lynxville, Crawford Co., WI. Died of stomach cancer. He was sick for a long time and couldn't eat. Ada told me that one day her grandpa Watson was visiting Tom and Tom said "Boy, I could really go for a piece of your wife's custard pie." G-pa Watson hurried home and had her bake a pie and took it back to him. Tom was so excited and quickly took a bite -- but he could not eat it.

Alice is buried at the Dixon Cemetery, Seneca Township, Crawford County, Wisconsin, USA, next to her children Arthur and Amy and granddaughter, Dorothy Lorraine.

Alice Amelia very nearly died from the same meningitis outbreak in 1872 that killed her brothers Ira, Thomas and Fred. It is said that a Native American Medicine Man cut open her spine and packed it with herbs - amazingly, she lived. She always had a bad back and was in a wheelchair as an old lady.

Alice's husband Tom died in June 1906, and Alice remarried to a man named Lou Fry in 1915.

Alice died during the great influenza epidemic of 1918. She nursed her brother through the flu and he survived, but she caught it and died. She was a school teacher and was homesteading land grants in Montana with her brothers Ollie, George and Art and her sister Amy.

Oliver married Margaret Enger in October 1915. Margaret was born 8 Sep 1885 at Churches Ferry, North Dakota, USA. They had two children Earl Oliver and Olive Mae.

Oliver registered for military service in May 1917 and identified that he was married with a child of 7 months.

He married for a second time, to a girl named Ruby Thomas who was born in about 1893 at Terre Haute, Indiana. The married in McCone County, Montana on 11 Nov 1919. The marriage register states that he had been previously married and divorced.

Oliver was shot and thrown down a well but no-one was ever prosecuted. Story has it that he had his wife and his girlfriend pregnant, and the girlfriend's brother shot him. His wife Ruby definitely had a son, born in 1920/21, so that matches up with the story.
