From GetReading, 7 June 2013:
Happy 104th – By George!
ST GEORGE’S Day has an extra special meaning for his sprightly namesake George Finucane who turned 104 and is still going strong.
The pensioner, who was born in 1903, blew out all the candles on his birthday cake on Thursday – so today is as much a celebration of Mr Finucane as it is of Englishness.
Mr Finucane, from Northcourt Lodge Nursing Home in Whitley, has lived in Reading for more than 60 years.
Staff nurse Bhadwoti Shah said of the party held at the nursing home in his honour: “It was good fun. “He enjoyed it. He is a very popular resident here.”
Mr Finucane was born in Nottingham but moved down south after he married his late wife Victoria.
