Marriage Notes for James KNIBBS\Elizabeth ROAKE:

Notes for James KNIBBS:

James' brother John married Elizabeth Roake's sister, Mary Roake.
__________

We can see James and Elizabeth living in the parish of Egham, Surrey at the 1841 census return:
James Knibbs 39 Ag Lab (born out of county)
Elizabeth Knibbs 38 (born in Surrey)
Henry Roake 22 Ag Lab (born in Surrey)

I assume Henry Roake who was living with them was either Elizabeth's younger brother or maybe even her son
__________

It's the details of the 1851 & 1861 census that identifies James was born in Woodstock and that parts of this Knibbs family therefore moved out of Woodstock.
__________

Details of James, his wife, and a granddaughter can be seen in the 1851 census extract for Surrey where they could be seen living at Crimp Hill, Egham, Surrey:
James KNIBBS, 48, labourer, Woodstock Oxon
Elizabeth KNIBBS, wife, 48, Egham Surrey
Crisla KNIBBS, grand-daughter, 8, Egham Surrey

The name of the granddaughter appeared as Crisla byut it was in fact Christiana..
__________

James can be seen at the 1861 census living at Crimp Hill, Egham, Surrey in the registration district of Windsor:
James KNIBBS Head 58 Gardener Oxon Woodstock
Elizabeth KNIBBS Wife 56 Surrey Egham
__________

In 1871, we see James, by then a widower, living at 6 Miller(?) Yard, Old Windsor:
James Knibbs Head Widower 71 Gardener Woodstock
William Tanner Son-in-Law Mar 26 Gardener Berks Lambourne
Christina Tanner Daughter 27 Surrey Egham
Thomas Tanner Grandson 7 mo Berks Old Windsor
Arthur Knibbs Grandson 4 Scholar Berks Old Windsor

Note that Christina was in fact James's granddaughter, born to his daughter Ann out of Wedlock and probably raised by James and Elizabeth as their own daughter, hence the relationship given at the 1871 census return.

We don't know for sure who Arthur Knibbs is who is also identified as a grandson, but I think he's most likely to be a child born to Christina before she married William Tanner. He was in fact Arthur James Knibbs b.q2/1867 at Windsor.
