From the New Britain Herald, October 08, 1915:
Carrol Benstead Knibbs and Miss Hazel Margaret Hoag, both of Waterbury, were married in this city yesterday by the Rev. J. E. Rees, pastor of the Stanley Memorial church,an old friend of each of the couple.

The Connecticut Death Index, 1949-2001 lists Carrol B Knibbs as having married. It gives his wife's name as 'Margu', presumably Margaret or Marguerite.

In 1913, we see in the List of Registered Motor Vehicles in the State of Connecticut, Carrol was number 9400 in the list.

Carrol's military registration card viewed at Ancestry.com tells us his middle name was Benstead, and that he was born on 15 Feb 1890 at Waterbury, New Haven, Connecticut. It also revealed that he was a Senior Clerk in the Treasury Department at the American Brass Company, Waterbury, CT. He was tall, slender, had blue eyes and black hair. His home address looks like Frost Road, Waterbury. Carrol registered in October 1917, and is shows that at that time he was already married.

He claimed exemption from military service on the grounds that he was employed making ammunition.

In February 1942, The Air Raid Defense Division of The Connecticut State Defense Council produced a Manual of Suggestions and Advice for Industries. Carroll Knibbs of the American Brass Company was named as a member of the Sub-Committe on Air Raid Precautions.

In 1943, we can see from the State Register and manual, that Carrol was one of the three Justices of the Peace for Middlebury, Hartford County.

MIDDLEBURY, Oct 12
State Rep. Carrol B Knibbs, 65, died today after an illness of several months. He had been Chief Safety Director at the American Brass Company at Waterbury since 1943. Rep. Knibbs had served in the Legislature during the 1951, 1953 and 1955 sessions. He was also justice in Middlebury court from 1947 to 1950. He leaves his wife and a daughter Aletha Sunderland of Waterbury.

Carrol B Knibbs, 65, Chief Safety Director at the American Brass Company, in Waterbury since 1949, died today after an illness of several months. A republican, he served in the 1951, 1953 and 1955 sessions of the Legislature as his town's representative. He also had been a trial justice in Middlebury two court from 1947 to 1950. Surviving are his widow and a daughter.

I understand from Norman R Sunderland that Hazel's mother was a Haynes, decended from John Haynes, the first provincial governor of Connecticut in 1600.

Mrs. Carrol B. Knibbs
Mrs. Marguerite Hoag Knibbs, Porter Hill Road, Middleburg, Conn., and a native of Wingdale, died at Waterbury Hospital Friday September 26, after a brief illness. She was the widow of Carrol B. Knibbs, former Connecticut state representative from the Middlebury area.
She was born in Wingdale, a daughter of the late William B. and Eloise Haynes Hoag. Mrs. Knibbs was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Waterbury, and the mother church in Boston. She was a former member of the Waterbury garden club.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. George R. Sunderland, Middlebury; two grandchildren and one great grandson.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 30, at the Alderson Funeral House, Waterbury, with Vernon Russell officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
