John's sister wrote the following poem to preserve the memory of John Edward:

John Edward Knibbs

At a tender young age
he was taken from life,
leaving behind him
two sons and a wife.

Two sisters and a brother
were also bereft;
now father and mother
had only three left.

I never had time
to know him as a friend
for much, much too soon
his life came to an end.

We learned to go on,
his sons became men,
and the circle of life
starts over again.
