ANGLING
At a meeting of the Cart and Horses Angling Club, High Green, it was decided to fish the annual match at Boston on July 9th. Mr. C. Winterbottom was elected delegate to the Chapeltown Association. The club's chief officials are: President, Mr. J. Jackson; treasurer, Mr. A. Kinch; secretary. Mr. E. Matthewman.
There was a large attendance at the annual meeting of the Chapeltown Angling Association on Sunday night at the Cart and Horses Hotel, High Green Mr. Harry Knibbs (chairman) referred to the death of Mr. J. Childs, one of the association founders, and delegate to the Sheffield Association for twenty years. Members stood in tribute. The accounts, which showed a credit balance of £15 12s., were adopted. The Secretary reported that a donation of £1 10s. had been forwarded to Sheffield Joint Hospitals. Two new clubs, Miners' Arms (Warren), and Queen's Head (High Green) were admitted. For the coming season the following nine clubs will constitute the association: Cart and Horses, High Green: Bridge Inn, Charlton Brook; Bridge Inn, Lane Ends; Gate Inn, Pilley; High Green W.M.C.; Grenoside W.M.C.; Hoyland Common W.M.C.; Queen's Head, High Green; and Miners' Arms, Warren. Officials elected were: President, Mr. H. Knibbs; treasurer, Mr. W. Dawson; secretary, Mr. F. Kenworthy; bailiffs for Westwood Reservoir, Messrs. J. Jackson and C. Winterbottom. It was decided to fish the annual gala match and team events at Kirkstead on August 19th, and to have the opening match in Westwood Reservoir on June 3rd, part proceeds to go to Sheffield joint Hospitals. It was agreed to charge 3s. for permits to fish in Westwood Reservoir, 6d. of which will be placed in the re-stocking fund.
