Glenn served in the US Navy as an Aviation Electrician, and was stationed at the Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, Florida where he taught maintenance for the upper deck turret of the B24 bomber aircraft.

Knibbs, US Navy Veteran WWII; beloved husband of the late Ann; loving father of Marjorie (Peter) Pratt, Ronald (Irene), Carole (Tom) Wurtz, and Catherine Knibbs; proud grandfather of Michael (Kristina) Hutchins, Michael (Alexis), David (Kristen) Knibbs, Joanne (Scott) Morse, Sulema, Kyle (Tatiana) Reichel, Laura Svanfelds, and Kristine Buffone; cherished great-grandfather of Isobel, Cameron, Donovan, Nicholas, Avery, Jacob, Mariellyn, and the late Slawek; dear brother of Loren (Joan) Knibbs. 50 year member and Past Master of Oak Lawn Lodge #1166 AF & AM, Medinah Shriners, and Past Commander of Square Post #232 A.L. Knibbs; devoted mother of Ronald (Irene) Knibbs, Marjorie (Peter) Pratt, Carol (Thomas) Wurtz and Cathy (Edward) Reichel; dearest grandmother of eight and great-grandmother of four. Lying in state Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 at 10 a.m. until time of Service at 11 a.m. at the Ashburn United Methodist Church, 3801 W. 83rd Pl., Chicago. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
