The spring wedding uniting Miss Karen Knibbs and Daniel Cooper in marriage, was held on April 5 at the Verona United Methodist Church. Dr Paul Herrel officiated at the 7 p.m double ring ceremony. Parents of the couple are Mr and Mrs. Garold Knibbs, Verona, and Mr and Mrs Alex Cooper, Braidwood Before the ceremony, the bride's grandmother, Mrs. George Knibbs. sang “More” and “With This Ring. The Lord’s Prayer” was played by the organist, Mrs. Richard Esgar, while the couple knelt at the altar. Given in marriage by her father, the bride chose a gown of white silk organza with chantilly lace trim, an all lace bodice with high neckline and fitted sleeves with ruffled cuffs. The imported silk illusion veil was a lace edged chapel length mantilla She carried a cascade of pastel daisies, white miniature carnations, baby’s breath and stephanotis. A white satin Bible, belonging to her sister, Mrs. Thomas Cromwell, was attached to the cascade. She also wore a cameo necklace belonging to her sister, and is a family heirloom. At the end of the ceremony, the couple presented their mothers with a long stemmed white rose. The maid of honor was Miss Valerie Hanson of Coal City. She wore a light blue gown with ruffled square bib, high ruffled neckline and ruffled skirt with a satin belt. She also wore a matching picture hat and carried a white wicker basket of spring flowers. Other attendants were Mrs. Ronald (JoAnn) Hansen, Miss Peggy Baptize.

Daniel Bruce Cooper Age 55, of Braidwood, IL, passed away suddenly Sunday, August 16, 2009 in Braidwood. Born May 21, 1954 in Joliet, IL, to the late Alexander and Mildred (nee Jacovec) Cooper. Daniel was previously employed for Caterpillar in Joliet and he was the senior security supervisor for ComEd for 20 years. Former member of the Braidwood Fire Department. Daniel was a hardworking, and loving father. Surviving are his children, Jillian (Nick) Offerman of Channahon, IL, Sara Cooper of Joliet, Daniel Bruce Cooper, Jr. of Channahon, and Ashlee, Amie, and Joshua; three grandchildren; one brother, David (Shirley) Cooper of Braidwood; one sister, Kathleen (Donald) Gerz of Oshkosh, WI; numerous nieces and nephews, and special niece Dawn Cooper. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., Braidwood Chapel, Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Dale Tolly officiating. Inurnment Oakwood Cemetery in Wilmington, IL.

Bridal shower fetes: Miss Karen Knibbs. A bridal shower honoring Miss Karen Knibbs was held Sunday. March 24. at the Verona United Methodist Church. Hostesses were Mrs. Harry Roe, Mrs George Sutton, Mrs Dan Beal and Mrs Dean Starks On arrival the honoree, her mother, Mrs. Garold Knibbs, and the prospective bridegroom’s mother, Mrs. Alex Cooper, were presented with daisy corsages in the bride-to-be’s chosen colors. Prizes were given to Mrs. Margaret Dix, Miss Valarie Hansen. Mrs. John Grace, Mrs. Donald Finch and Miss Judy Sutton. The door prize was won by Miss Jennie Finch. Duplicates were given the honored guest. Assisting her in opening her gifts were her attendants. Miss Knibbs will become the bride of Dan Cooper of Braidwood in the Verona United Methodist Church at 7 p.m. Friday. No invitations have been sent. All friends and relatives are invited to attend the wedding and reception which will be held following the ceremony at Friendship Hall in Coal City.

Karen Mount
VERONA—Karen Lee (nee Knibbs) Mount, 64, of Verona, passed away Monday, June 18 , 2018 at Morris Hospital.
She was born May 13, 1954 in Morris to Garold and Janet (nee Barger) Knibbs. She graduated from Mazon-Verona-Kinsman High School. Karen continued her education and became a nurse working for Dr. Charles Comfort in Mazon and later Dr. Philomena Francis in Dwight until her retirement. Her family describes Karen as a laid back and sweet lady. They feel she was one of a kind and that God broke the mold after he made her. She enjoyed reading and taking walks. Most of all, she was completely devoted to her family.
She is survived by her children, Amie DePodesta, of Coal City; Josh Cooper, of Verona and Ashlee (Daniel) LaMarr, of Gilman; her grandchildren: Bailey and Delaney DePodesta and Daniel LaMarr; Eric DePodesta, of Coal City; siblings, Kandy (Tom) Cromwell, of Mazon; John (Sheila) Knibbs, of Missouri and Robert (Carol) Knibbs, of Verona and her step-sister, Debbie (Bill) Okopski, of Naperville.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Janet; her father, Garold; her step-mother, Helen Knibbs and her sister in infancy, Lisa Knibbs.
Memorial donations may be made to the Coal City Fire Department, 35 S. Dewitt St., Coal City, IL 60416 or Grundy County Community Volunteer Hospice Lending Closet, 518 W. Illinois Ave., Morris, IL 60450.
A private burial service will be held at Ward Cemetery in Verona. Pastor Tyler Carrell will officiate.
